This module will attempt to revisit the conceptual frameworks that informed the period of decolonization across the Global South – specifically, important formulations presented in works by Aime Césaire, Albert Memmi, Malek Bennabi and Frantz Fanon. The aim of this module is to explore, in a group setting, the commentaries offered by these seminal thinkers in order to engage central questions of revolution, emancipation, liberation, civilisation, colonisation, decolonisation, colonisability and racial oppression that informed their context and to rethink their resonance in our contemporary moment.
